Terms & Conditions - 1st June 2016


1. The promoter of The Great British Write Off is Bonacia Ltd., Remus House, Coltsfoot Drive, Peterborough, PE2 9BF. Bonacia Ltd. is a Limited Liability company incorporated in England and Wales, with registered number 05368980. VAT registration number is 102781343. The Great British Write Off is free to enter.

2. By entering The Great British Write Off, entrants agree to be bound by the competition rules and accept the terms and conditions.

3. Bonacia Ltd. reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition or the rules without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of Bonacia Ltd's reasonable control. Any changes will be posted within these Terms & Conditions.

4. In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, conduct, results and all other matters relating to The Great British Write Off, the decision of Bonacia Ltd. shall be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

Qualifying Entrants

5. Employees of Bonacia Ltd. and members of their families or households are eligible to enter The Great British Write Off, but are not eligible to be shortlisted for or win any prizes.

6. By entering The Great British Write Off, you hereby confirm that the poem submitted by you is your own original work. You may enter work on a deceased relative's behalf if you own the copyright posthumous. It must be entered under their name / pen name with you as the listed contact. Bonacia Ltd. reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants. Entries will be read by our Editorial team and if they meet the publishing criteria, they will be put forward for publication in this year's anthology/ies.

All entrants have a realistic chance of seeing their work in print (average 60%). Entrants who are chosen for publication will be asked for permission to publish the work. Published entrants are then considered for the prizes.

7. The postal address you provide with your work will be used to send any correspondence to, so please make sure this is correct. By providing your email address you are opting into The Great British Write Off emails, unless you specify otherwise.

8. The Great British Write Off is open to UK residents aged 18 and over. Bonacia Ltd. assumes that by using the website and entering The Great British Write Off that you are aged 18+ and reside in the UK.

9. Bonacia Ltd. reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of the rules.

10. In the event that any entrant is disqualified from The Great British Write Off, Bonacia Ltd. in its sole discretion may decide whether a replacement should be selected. In this event, any further entrant will be selected on the same criteria as the original entrant and will be subject to these rules.

Competition Entries

11. You may enter one piece of work per person. Multiple entries won't be considered.

12. There is no purchase required to enter The Great British Write Off and there is no charge to email or upload your entry via the website.

13. Proof of posting or emailing cannot be accepted as proof of delivery. Bonacia Ltd. cannot accept responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of or unauthorised access to Entries, or Entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of a third party, server functions, technical issues, virus, bugs or other causes outside Bonacia Ltd.'s control.

14. Bonacia Ltd. is unable to return any work, therefore, it is recommended you send in a copy and not the original / only copy.

Prizes

15. Being chosen for publication is not “winning” the competition. Bonacia Ltd. will shortlist the Top 10 writers / poets and our guest judges will select the 3 winners once the books have been published. Prize details are available here. Bonacia Ltd. reserves the right to change the panel of judges without notice. The Top 10 pieces will be judged anonymously by the guest judges. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

16. To be eligible for one of the prizes, your work must be published in a The Great British Write Off anthology. No purchase is necessary to be included in an anthology and the author retains their copyright. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

17. There is no cash alternative to the prizes. Bonacia Ltd. reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value at any time.

Intellectual Property Rights & Use of Entries

18. Bonacia Ltd. does not, unless we agree this with you, claim any rights of ownership of your work. As such, you retain ownership and copyright of your work and, although Bonacia Ltd. will be able to use entries as set out in the rules, you will also have the right to use your work in any way you choose. If you win a prize, as a condition of receipt of that prize, your name, photo and your work will be required for publicity purposes.

19. Bonacia Ltd. does not guarantee to use or otherwise make available any work. Bonacia Ltd. may also, in appropriate circumstances, and at its sole discretion, reject, edit, remove or disable access to work that appears to be legally or otherwise problematic; e.g. infringe the copyright or other intellectual property or privacy rights of others, are defamatory etc. or for any other reason.

20. By entering The Great British Write Off, you hereby confirm that the work submitted by you is your own original work. You hereby warrant that your poem and all information that you submit and/or distribute will not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or any other rights of any third party, and will not contain anything that is libellous, defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing or threatening.

Liability

21. Bonacia Ltd. cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering The Great British Write Off or as a result of accepting any prize. Bonacia Ltd. is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment or software, failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, or at any website, or any combination of these, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or uploading any material for The Great British Write Off. Nothing shall exclude Bonacia Ltd.'s liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.

Data Protection and Publicity

22. Winners will be requested to take part in promotional activity and Bonacia Ltd. reserves the right to use the names of winners, their photograph and work in any publicity. Shortlisted entrants may have their names and all or part of their entry published on Bonacia Ltd.'s websites for publicity purposes.

23. Any personal data relating to entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the individual's prior consent. Data relating to entrants will be retained by Bonacia Ltd. for a reasonable period after any The Great British Write Off books have been published to assist Bonacia Ltd. to deal with any queries that may arise.

Delivery Policy

Pre-Publication Orders

Orders that are placed and paid for before publication will be fulfilled as soon as the book is published. (Publication dates are stated in the paperwork we send to customers.)

Postage and packaging charges include the cost of sending the book(s) as well as the packaging material. P&P is charged per order, not per item. Orders are delivered to the delivery address requested by the customer.

Home /Business address deliveries are fulfilled by either Royal Mail or courier, depending on the amount of books ordered. Generally 3 books or less will be delivered by Royal Mail.

Orders can be delivered overseas. This incurs a delivery charge of £4.95 per book.

Post-Publication Orders

Orders placed after publication will be fulfilled within 14 days of receipt of the order.

If a book is out of stock, customers are advised at the time of placing their order and delivery will be within 28 days of receipt of the order. Orders are delivered to the delivery address requested by the customer. Deliveries are fulfilled by either Royal Mail or courier, depending on the amount of books ordered. Generally 3 books or less will be delivered by Royal Mail.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel any order placed by contacting us before we despatch the order and we will organise a full refund within 14 working days. Should there be a problem with your order, such as you have received the wrong title, please contact us. If the book you receive is faulty or damaged please contact us so we can send you a replacement.

Returns Policy

You can return your purchase to us in its original condition within 14 days of the date you received your order and we will issue a full refund for the price you paid for the book(s), excluding P&P. Please give us a call or email before you send anything back and we will advise you of the procedure to follow.

Though we check our system frequently to try and avoid errors, things can occasionally go wrong with the ordering process. If we make a mistake, we will do our best to put things right as quickly as we can, with as little inconvenience to you as possible.

Bonacia Ltd. reserves the right to amend these rules where it is deemed necessary to do so. Any changes to the rules will be posted on The Great British Write Off website.
